1944 July 7 Contact with the enemy is broken.
  July 13 In two LST's,   sail back to England.
  Sep. 1 At airfields ready to jump at Bournai in Belgium.
  Sep. 7 Bournai jump and alternate Liege cancelled.
  Sep. 14 Scheduled to jump at Nijmegen, Holland.
  Sep. 17 Drops  south of Nijmegen.
  Sep. 18 Glider landing zone south of Nijmegen cleared for landing.
  Sep. 21 After changing hands 3 times Beek is secured.
  Sep.23 3rd Battalion takes all objectives across flats east of Nijmegen.
  Sep. 24 Relieved by 504th, moves near Berg-en-Dal to reorganize.
  Oct. 2 2nd Battalion hit by Panzer Grenadiers.
  Oct. 6 Complete combat team moves North of the Waal River and is attached the British 50 Division.
  Oct. 20 Second birthday celebrated by more rain and more mud.
  Oct 23 Takes short breather in Nijmegen before returning; to positions north of the Waal.
  Nov. 10By midnight back in Nijmegen
  Nov. 11Entire regiment walks 22 miles to Oss, Holland, on way back to France.
  Nov. 14Billeted in French camp at Sissone, France.
  Dec. 17At 2000 alerted to move to the front at St. Vith in the Ardennes in Belgium.
  Dec. 18Leaves for Werbomont, Belgium, still attached to the 82nd.
  Dec. 19Establishes defensive position.
  Dec. 20Move to Thier-du--Mont ridge line south of Goronne.
  Dec. 23First contact with enemy.
  Dec. 24.82nd ordered to withdraw 7 miles. 1st Battalion fought rear guard action.
  Dec. 25Enemy attack repulsed in front of 1st and 2nd battalions.
  Dec. 28Two battalions of SS troops hit boundary between G and F Companies. Artillery fire from the 319th, backed by a counter attack by I Co., beats off the attack. More than 100 dead Krauts in G and F Company areas.
