Captain Nation undoubtedly saw this WW-I memorial tablet (in the churchyard shown at left) as being prophetic given the circumstance that brought him to the village..

 


Château de Francquetot
was in use by the Germans on D-Day but became an Allied forces possession soon thereafter.  In this photo it seems unscfathed.
