Pvt Robert Ingersoll Fleming [1918-2007]
on leave, Lakewood, OH, 1941.  He enlisted on July 28, 1941 in Hartford, CT, his weightlifter form still evident under the uniform.
 He later was chosen to attend OCS and then volunteered for parachutist duty. 
Mr. Physical Culture of Connecticut of 1939 was the body building title held by Bob Fleming 2 years prior to his enlistment in the army.
   No wonder he was chosen to be the officer in charge of physical education for the regiment.   He frequently boomed , "You have to be in perfect physical condition to vault the walls of Berlin. Now, grab your partner in the fireman’s carry and do 25 slow, easy deep knee bends."
