The 1st PIR may have been comprised of the Test Platoon forming the
nucleus of the 501st PIR activated at Camp Toccoa, Georgia, on 15
November 1942, approximately 1 week prior to Van's first enlistment.
Van J. Millwood wears a 9th Armored Division patch. Rank and division both
imply this to be post-war since he re-enlisted in 1945 as a Pfc.
