Incredibly, Charles Ogle
lied about his age when he enlisted ... not just a little, but a lot!
Stating his year of birth as 1928 he managed to shave off 4 years of
reality and somehow managed to keep that a secret during his service
period. Although the first photo is undated, he was just 13 in the
Heddernheim image. After the regiment returned to the states in
1946, and by his own statement, "I had my 14th Birthday at midnight on
the ferry from NY to NJ, November 15, 1946. He also stated that
when the 508th was inactivated, "I was put in the 325th Glider Inf.
Regt. and then in Support Company 504th P.I.R. I was a T/4."
Unfortunately he does not
recall which 508th company he served in. |
