Hospitality
rooms were a vital gathering point for attendees to have a drink or
snack while socializing.
Renamed as "Command Posts", the CP's grew from in
popularity from one large room to many.
Depending on attendance rates each battalion would
have one set up for its membership. In some cases there were CPs
available even at the company level.
The CP's were not exclusive club rooms, however, as
personnel from all units drifted from one to the other to say hello
to old friends. But they were the central social point for those
who had been assigned to the unit at one time or another.
This sign, still bearing the staples that secured
it to a backing, was used to guide the 2nd Battalion members to their
CP. Depending on location, similar signs with arrows were posted
around the building. This one was probably posted at he doorway
of the room.
Note that DIABLO has been rearmed to fulfill the latest
mission!
