Gavin's Message
to the troops of the 82n ABN "who carried the fight ... from Africa to Berlin"

On June 5th, 1944,at Folkingham, England, H Company, 508th PIR boarded 313th and 314th Troop Carrier Group C-47 aircraft . Sgt. Bill Farmer and two fellow Squad Leaders, Sgts Ralph Busson and Dan Furlong, tore a One Dollar bill into three pieces vowing to get together later to re-assemble the bill.
Bill Farmer was KIA on July 8, 1944.  After the war his comrades replaced the missing part of the Dollar bill with Bill Farmer's photograph. That reassembled Dollar bill is now in the collection of the Airborne Musee
