FIGHT TONIGHT
1. Marksmanship.
On 13JUN2017, 52 x 1-508 PIR Paratroopers from Bravo Company conducted
a M4 Stress Shoot in order to practice engaging targets under austere
conditions. Paratroopers completed a rigorous physical circuit prior
to engaging targets in order to simulate the physical and mental stress
associated with a real world fire fight. Keys tasks included: proper
barrier shooting technique, accurately engaging targets, weapon safety
while maneuvering around the barrier, and changing magazines. Each paratrooper
completed several iterations including left and right handed firing.
(storyboard attached).
2. Physical Fitness.
On 16JUN17 C/1-508 and D/1-508 conducted a no-notice APFT in support
of the Gavin Cup.
3. Medical Skills.
The medical platoon leadership supported WFX 17-05 by processing
casualty evacuations for an entire brigade. This included medical support
planning for an Air Assault, and casualty feeder card preparation. Our
medical team used this training to work out procedures for reporting
and battle tracking with our S1 in our ALOC as we prep for the BCT JOAX
and JRTC later this year.
4. Communication.
In addition to the continued CS-17 and NETT warrior fielding, the
S6 team took advantage of WFX 17-05 to enhance our TOC connectivity
and use of CPOF and other key SIPR systems. We were able to train new
Paratroopers on Ventrillo and CPOF. Additionally, the battle captains
and S6 were introduced to a new web-based common operating system, ARES,
that we hope to use in future training scenarios.
5. Small Unit Tactics.
On 14JUN2017, 49 x 1-508 PIR Paratroopers from Alpha, Bravo, and
Charlie companies engaged in AT weapons training at Range 44, conducting
a series of firing tables during day and night conditions. The key tasks
trained for the range included familiarization with the weapon systems,
firing and crew drill TTPs, types and purpose of Gustav ammunition,
daylight engagements and use of PEQ-15/PAS-13 during night engagements.
The Battalion fired 400 AT-4 9mm training rounds, 26 live AT4s, and
15 Live Carl Gustav. This training made the battalion more lethal against
our armored enemy.(storyboard attached).
6. Mastery of Maintenance.
Over the past two weeks, 1-508 PIR's Maintenance section focused
on completing services for over 1000 pieces of equipment including pro-masks,
NVGs, rifles, and rolling stock. Additionally, on 13 JUN, A Co turned
in 4 x PSDs of excess property to DLA and the BN S4 scheduled a follow-on
appointment for the rest of the battalion on 06 July with the help of
5-73 CAV's logistics team. In preparation for this turn-in DLA is sending
a representative to the 1Fury AO to pre-inspect paperwork and educate
our supply and maintenance team on their procedures to expedite the
turn-in process. Finally, we continued to add 10/20 BII to our deferred
status ordering bringing our BN total to over $400K.
7. Airborne Proficiency.
On 12JUN17, 196 x 1-508 Paratroopers executed an Airborne operation
to improve jumpmaster proficiency, meet progression, and ensure no Paratroopers
became pay loss during block leave.
On 16JUN17, 46 x 1-508 Paratroopers were scratched due to weather.
8. Live Fire Exercises.
NSTR.
School Updates.
1-508 PIR has 54 Ranger-qualified Paratroopers, with another leader,
SPC Leischner (A Co) currently in the Florida Phase of Ranger School,
with an expected graduation date of 23 JUN.
We currently have 41 Jumpmasters, and seven Paratroopers awaiting
PWAC. On 05JUN17 Alpha Company sent SSG Demars to the FBGA Jumpmaster
School.
GRF Operations.
On 15 JUN, 1-508 PIR transitioned all GRB1 responsibilities, including
DRC guard, to 1-505. We de-rigged all of our vehicles, and each of them
returned to the motor-pool under their own power. 4 of those vehicles
went to CS-17 fielding. 1-508 PIR is now the GRB3.
WIN TOMORROW'S FIGHT
C/1-508 PIR executed their third weekly Teleconference with the FSR
and Acquisitions Officers associated with the NETT Warrior Future Initiatives
fielding. Charlie Company has coordinated for equipment fielding following
Block Leave, and continues to plan for training exercises that will
incorporate the new systems in preparation for the BCT JOAX.

in our battalion, the 3rd brigade combat team, 82nd Airborne Division
and the United States Army.
