EDUCATION BENEFITS
Under the GI Bill you can attend any school in the USA, provided it has been approved BY the Vets Administration. The Govt will pay up to $500. per year tuition. This will cover laboratory, library, health, infirmary, and similar other fees. It will also pay for books, supplies, equipment, and other necessary expenses, not including traveling and living expense. You will receive a living allowance of $50. a month if single without dependents, and $75. a month if you have one or more. (A Bill has been proposed in Congress to increase these amounts but IT HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED). Any eligible person cab take 12 months of free schooling or training (or time equal to it in part-time study) at an approved institution, or a lesser time if sufficient to complete the course of instruction is chosen. Upon satisfactory completion of the year of study, you may continue up to an additional 36 months, BUT NOT TO EXCEED THE LENGTH OF SERVICE YOU HAVE HAD SINCE 16 SEPTEMBER 1940. Two years Service will allow you to take 4 years of college. For Example, if you had 2 years of Service after 16 Sept 1940, you would be entitled to 36 months of schooling since everyone is entitled to one year outright, plus your two years, gives you the above 36 months. If you have gone as far as the Third Grade, but hesitate about going back because you may feel strange in such a class of kids, these special schools may fill the bill for you. They will be mad6 up of fellows in the same spot as you. When you get hone and want to apply for any of this, go to the nearest regional office of the Veterans Administration, or to the school you want to attend, they will have all the information for you. A school of wales [sic] was sighted by Landlubber on the Port side yesterday afternoon, but to their dismay, they were only porpoise. - better luck next time fellows.

There's a story told about the Privates girl that is now going out with a Second Lieutenant:
she used to be an enlisted man girl, but now she's an officers mess.

What T/Sgt is now known as "short circuit" since his narrow escape with the ships PA system.

Then there is the PFC who fell in the chow line and sweated it out for two hours only to find that it was a line into the latrine

Hungry:
Why is it we can't get enough food to eat. I am always hungry after returning from my meals. The food is cooked very well but I just can't get enough to fill myself up.
