Master Sgt Robert L. Johnson of Alexander is a member of the
508th Parachute Infantry in combat training at Camp Mackall, N.
C. He joined the army in June 1942, and won his wings as a
parachutist March 5 this year. Before entering the service
he studied at the Hamilton school of commerce and later worked for
the Standard Oil company at Mason City. His wife lives at
Alexander.

Pfc
Walter G. Woods
is now a member of the 508th parachute infantry in combat training
at Camp Mackall, N.C.
His mother, Mrs. Harry C. Woods, resides in Highland avenue, Brocton.
He joined the Army in November 1942, and won his wings as a United
States parachutist on Mar 6, 1943. Before entering service he attended
school in Brocton and later worked at Huntley Mfg. Company.

After
completing airborne maneuvers, Pvt. William Meshiry, son of Joe
Meshiry, of 518 Dubois, has become a member of the 508th Parachute
Infantry. He is undergoing combat training at Camp Mackall, N.C.
He joined the armed forces in October and won his wings as
a parachutist in February. Pvt. Meshiry's unit was praised
upon completing is maneuvers by Col Roy E. Lindquist, commander.

William H. Wright
Pfc William H. Wright is now a member of the 508th
parachute infantry in combat training at Camp Mackall, N.C.
He is the son of Mrs. E. S. Wright of 18 Reed Street.
He joined the Army Nov. 5, 1942, and won his wings as a parachutist
on March 5. Before he entered the service he attended Pittsfield
High and he worked for General Electric.
The 508th, made up of trained jumpers, recently returned to camp from
airborne maneuvers in the field. The commanding general impressed
by its "excellent showing," commended the "spirit and discipline
shown at all times by the men, in spite of inclement weather, fatigue,
loss of sleep and hunger.

Pfc John A. Kazlauskas, is now a member of the 508th Parachute
Infantry in combat training at Camp Mackall, N. C. His mother, Mrs.
J. A. Kazlauskas resides at 629 East Fourth street. He joined
the Army March 24, 1942 and won his wings as a United States parachutist
on January 31, 1943.
The 508th, made up of trained jumpers, recently returned to camp from
airborne maneuvers in the field. The commanding general impressed
by its "excellent showing," commended the "spirit and discipline
shown at all times by the men, in spite of inclement weather, fatigue,
loss of sleep and hunger. The 508th is commanded by Colonel
Roy E. Lindquist, 36, West Point Class of '30 and a pioneer parachutist.

Pvt Sherman L. Baker, of Patrick, who
joined the Army Oct 26, 1942, won his wings as a parachutist
on March 77 this year, and is now a member of the 508th -Parachute
Infantry in combat "training 'at Camp Mackall, North Carolina. This
regiment, made, up of . trained 'jumpers, recently returned from
airborne maneuver in the field. Pvt. Baker is a son of Tom Baker.
