				A. Gregory Army Pvt. Mark A. Gregory, son of William L. and Marcia S. 
				Gregory of Rural Route 2, Shelbyville, is a member of the 2nd 
				Battalion, 508th Infantry, Fort Bragg, N.C., participating in 
				the multi-national peace-keeping force and observers (MFO) as 
				the primary U.S. military contingent in the Sinai.
 The MFO, an independent agency responsible to the governments of 
				Israel and Egypt, was established as a result of the 1979 
				Egypt-Israel peace treaty.
 The mission of the airborne unit is to operate check points and 
				observation posts and conduct reconnaissance patrols along the 
				Sinai peninsula. The peninsula is located on the southeast 
				shores of the Mediterranean Sea and extends eastward from the 
				Suez Canal to Israel and southward from the Mediterranean to the 
				Red Sea.
 The unit will be the third U.S. contingent to serve with the MFO, 
				replacing the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, of Fort Campbell, 
				Ky.
 His wife, Lori, is the daughter of Fred and Mary Wellman of 
				Fountaintown.
 The private is a 1974 graduate of Morristown High School.
