'Rock' Merritt
gathers the units many battle streamers in preparation of encasing the flag

Streamers In Hand
Rock Merritt ensures that the flag and steamers will be properly set into the shroud


Standard Encasing

aided by Lt. Col. Ted Mauzey and Roland Hall, 'Rock' Merritt slides the encasing cover over the regimental standard.
   Once the standard has been placed in the museum, the flag may never see the direct light of day again.

Fully Encased
The standard was raised next to the flag of the United States

Leaving The Field
the Color Guard carries the encased regimental standard to the nearby museum

Flag Bearer
Bill McClure (Co. D) carries the 'Stars and Bars' as the color guard leaves the area
