Cpl. Barry Halter is an eager 82nd Airborne re-enactor and will soon attend
a jump school to satisfy FAA regulations. Once certified his fondest wish
is to participate in a jump over Normandy |

Modern Jumper Staff Sergeant Bredbauer explains how current Army jump equipment works, including an automatic chute deployer in case a jumper is rendered unconscious |
Equipment Failures can happen and the sergeant related his own experience on a mission jump that forced him to go to his reserve chute. Unlike WW-II equipment that used separate main and reserve chutes, today's gear incorporates both chutes into one pack. If the reserve is deployed, the main automatically separates and drifts free. |
