1954 - MSgt Rock Merritt and NC State Trooper were assigned to nab speeders on highway to Ft Bragg.
   Rock was the battalion Sergeant Major, 2nd Bn, 504th PIR at the time.

General Omar Bradley
was another dignitary that Rock had a chance to meet Taken at the Association of The United States Army (AUSA) meeting in the Sheraton Park Hotel, Washington DC, 1977.  Rock brought the men named  "Soldier of The Year" by each of 16 major commands at Bragg to the  meeting and Gen Bradley wanted to meet all of them.
   Gen Bradley was the last surviving five-star commissioned officer of the United States and the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
