0315 hour --- Units stared move across bridge, a portion
of it was bombed out, the Engineers built a temporary bridge for troops
only.
0400 hour --- Crossed bridge, tuned south and proceeded toward Tallifer.
0650 hour --- Arrived in Tallifer, no enemy action.
0710 hour --- Established CP just south of Tallifer.
0800 hour --- Troops proceeded to dig in immediately, still no sign of
any of enemy opposition. Four prisoners taken in Tallifer. Six
enemy tanks knocked out by our units.
1015 hour --- M/1 to Div. Regt Cp 287871, 2d Bn on position at
Tallifer, 2d Bn at 320877, head of 1st at Fracquetot [sic].
1015 hour --- M/2 to Div. Bridge destroyed at 278891. -- CO
1019 hour --- M/3 to Bns. Send hourly reports. -- CO.
1103 hour --- M/4 to CO. CP location - 2d Bn.
1103 hour --- M/5 to CO// 1st Bn contacted. -- 3rd Bn.
1300 hour --- 1st Bn accomplished their mission at Cretteville.
1350 hour --- 2d Bn planning to attack Baupte at 1600 hour/
1500 hour --- CG into CP.
1500 hour --- Artillery to be in support of 2d Bn at Baupte 1st Bn
to attack on Baupte also.
1530 hour --- Attack on Baupte set back to 1700 hour.
1600 hour --- All preparations set. CO and Gen Howell to
Baupte to watch attack. Div G-2 into CP.
1645 hour --- M/6 to Div. 4 PWs captured 295878. 1 Panzer 2d
Lt--no pay book, others Ersatz Bns. Hqs 290883. Co I stationed here,
others at Carentan.
1645 hour --- Patrol sent out to see whether or not the river branch to
our northeast was a barrier for tanks returned. They reported that the
mud flats was an obstacle but not a barrier. Report sent to Div.
1645 hour --- M/7 to Div. Civilians report that all personnel at 290883
move3d out this AM..
1645 hour --- M/8 to div. Civilians report all troops
evacuated from Le Haye de Puits.
1700 hour --- Artillery barrage on Baupte started
1700 hour --- M/9 to CO. 1st Bn CP at designated objective sending
overlay. -- 1st Bn.
1800 hour --- CO and Gen Howell returned. 2d Bn gained access to
Baupte, clearing out snipers.
1817 hour --- M/10 to 2d Bn. Report when Baupte is clear. -- S-3
1900 hour --- 200 enemy reported north of Baupte with ambulances
evacuating wounded.
1930 hour --- Artillery ordered to fire on enemy troops. Two of
our places spotted the troops and straffed [sic] them.
1950 hour --- The effect of the artillery on enemy troops not recorded.
2015 hour --- M/11 to S-3. Baupte cleared. 2d Bn.
2015 hour --- M/12 to Div. Reported the clearing of Baupte -- CO
2015 hour --- M/13 to Div. G-1 report. -- S-1.
2045 hour --- M/14 to Div. G-3 report. -- s-3.
2050 hour --- M/15 to CO. Destroyed two enemy tanks. -- Co A.
2100 hour --- S-3 reports 14 enemy tanks knocked out by us today
2110 hour --- M/16 to SO2. Patrols report enemy in disorderly withdrawal
from Baupte to south and west.
2130 hour --- Co G to attack the enemy column.
2300 hour - Mine fields laid, all units informed.
2400 hour --- No enemy action. |

0010 hour --- Estimated loss report to Div:
Captured 0; Killed 1`; Missing 692; wounded, evacuated - 1; wounded not
evacuated 0; prisoners 4; outlaws apprehended 0stength 1282; date 143
June 1944.
0600 hour --- some snipers in immediate area.
0645 hour --- Patrols increased, some patrols sent out to encounter
snipers, and clear them out.
0830 hour --- M/1 to 1st Bn. Open 284 radios. -- Commo O,
0900 hour --- Report of 1000 enemy at 290853.
0930 hour --- A civilian lady reported the same group of enemy but had
no information as to the number.
0945 hour --- Request for artillery fire on the enemy position.
1000 hour --- Artillery to lay on at 1015 hour.
1015 hour --- Artillery started.
1035 hour --- Artillery ceased,
1040 hour --- Artillery officer report that the barrage was effective.
1120 hour ---.CO out to Div.
1125 hour --- Gen Howell in from Baupte.
