OPERATION ”NEPTUNE”, NORMANDY
28 MAY TO 15 JULY 1944

16 June 1944 0500 hour --- 507 arrived.
0530 hour --- Departed from Château for new CP location west of Etienville.
0600 hour --- Troops going by truck, raining , through Picauville.
0645 hour --- Arrived at new CP location.
0700 hour --- CP established, outposts established.
0710 hour --- M/1 CP located at 258945 sent to Div . from S-3.
0800 hour --- CP of 505 is located directly across road.
0845 hour --- CO out to Div.
1012 hour --- Aid Station at 258945.
1015 hour --- COs 1st and 21d Bn into CP.
1017 hour --- M/2 to Div. G-3 report --- S-4
1100 hour --- 1st and 2d Bns departed CP.
1140 hour --- Sent 21/2 ton truck to draw rations-10 in 1.
1200 hour --- Adj to rear train.
1245 hour --- CO in.
1330 hour --- Adj to pickup field desk and field desk at Rear Train. Bringing back 2 clerks that came in seaborne--Sgts Hynes and Thibodeau.
1500 hour --- Adj arrived in the fwd CP
1500 hour --- CP alerted for move forward.
1520 hour --- CP moved out in route march.
1530 hour --- Passed heavy American tank knock out along road.
1540 hour --- Passed German "75" and a self propelled gun which were knocked out.
1540 hour --- Heavy tanks passed column going to the front.
1700 hour --- Moved into St. Sauveur le Vicomte, bridge blown, engineers put in pontoon bridge.
1715 hour --- Moved into town to CP.
1730 hour --- Established CP in bakery building in St. Sauveur.
1800 hour --- CP established with tables from bakery.
2000 hour --- Contacted 3d Bn coming into town.
2055 hour --- 2d Bn passed through town to their CP area.
2200 hour --- 1st Bn in.
2220 hour --- Radio commo with 3d Bn.
2300 hour --- Bombing and artillery fire heavy on town.  no hits on CP building.
2400 hour --- Artillery fire still intense.
2400 hour --- Weather clear; Morale excellent; strength 97 Off, 1123 EM.
17 June 1944 0030 hour --- Two staff officers to be awake all night, one EM per section.
0100 hour --- Artillery still close, some concussions felt hitting building.
0430 hour --- M/1 to Div. S-2 report on MG on 192922.
0440 hour --- M/.w2 to S-3.  CP  location at 182938. -- 2d Bn.
0445 hour --- M/3 to CO 60th Inf w2ill pass through St. Sauveur shortly after daylight, message fr4om Force A -- 506.
0706 hour --- M/4 to 2d Bn. Patrol within your sector as far as Cretteville.
0800 hour --- M/5 to CO. Adjust position of 4936 -- Div..
0900 hour --- New mission assigned, to consist of patrols only.
0915 hour --- M/7 to Div, G-2. Observer-191939-places artillery shell directions  as 240 degrees, distance approximately one mile.
0925 hour --- M/7 to CO. Contact made with medium tanks Bn at 0825 hour.
1000 hour --- Demo Sect to set bridge south of town for blowing.
1003 hour --- M/8 to CO. Disposition of troops---505.
1025 hour --- M/9 to CO.  4 Germans killed by tanks at 181926 -- 2d Bn.
1031 hour --- Gen Gavin in from Force A.
1100 hour --- 3 Bn to Force A reserve.
1115 hour --- Bridge south of St. Sauveur mined and ready to be blown, estra guard pit on to insure no counterattack by enemy.
1115 hour --- 60th Inf passing through town.
1115 hour --- Enemy artillery falling very close to the CP, undoubtedly trying to blow the bridge.
1200 hour --- Bridge south of town is object of enemy mortar fire, several demo men injured, Lt. Davis and 3 EM evacuated to the hospital.
1215 hour --- M/110 to CO. Fwd water point open at  261944. -- Div.
1240 hour --- M/11 to CO.  Make rec after dark to check depth of water indicated and determine usability thereof -- overlay attached -- Force A.
1300 hour --- CO to Med Det.
