0930 hour --- lt. Hager in with Operations Meme #4.
1000 -hour -- Lt. Hager out to Div.
1025 hour --- S-4 to Div.
1100 hour --- No enemy action.
1200 hour --- S=-4 in from Div.
1300 hour --- CO 1st Bn into CP.
1315 hour --- CO out to all Bns.
1400 hour --- No change.
1445 hour --- CO in.
1500 hour --- Champion called.  Meeting for unit COs at 2000 hr. Overlays of assembly areas at Div to be picked reconnoitered, and inform Div as to area picked.
1525 hour --- Adj. and Commandant to reconnoiter the assembly area.
1530 hour --- Gen Howell into CP.
1600 hour --- CG in, contacted Gen Gavin.
1610 hour --- CG and Gen Gavin out.
1645 hour --- CO to Chef-du-Pont, 505, and Div.
1700 hour --- Col Shanley back from the hosp, took over duties of Regt Exec.
1800 hour --- 8th Div passing through our area.
1930 hour --- CO in.
2000 hour --- Gen Gavin in.
2015 hour --- Gen Gavin out.
2100 hour --- No change.
2400 hour --- No change, Weather rainy, morale excellent; strength 918.

08 July 1944

0800 hour --- No change.
0930 hour --- CO out to Bns.
1030 hour --- Units preparing to move, no definite word as yet.
1200 hour --- Word received that we would not move before tomorrow.
1330 hour --- CO out to Div.
1420 hour --- Message received by telephone of meeting of unit COs and Div fwd CP at 2000 hour.
1530 hour --- CO in.
1600 hour --- Capt Bridgewater and Lt. Moss working on decorations..
1700 hour --- Lt. Frigo returned from the hospital.
1800 hour --- Exec out to Rear Train and all Bns in turn.
1930 hour --- Exec in, did not contact Bns.
2000 hour --- Exec out to 1st and 2d Bns.
2100 hour --- No change.
2110 hour --- Exec in.
2200 hour --- No change.
2400 hour --- Weather clear; morale3 excellent; strength 917.-

09 July - 11 July 1944 The regiment remained in Division reserve taking advantage of the opportunity to take showers and clean up personnel in preparation for the return to England.
12 July - 15 July 1944

The regiment departed from Normandy across Utah Beach, utilizing two LSTs for transportation to Southampton, England, and thence to Nottingham by train.
